Christmas Candies

Hi Everyone, I have another Christmas card that I made using the Simon Says Stamp Christmas Candy Cane stamp set.

The inspiration for the card came from a Recollections paper pad called Jolly Holiday. I've had this paper pap in my collection for a couple years. It has some really cute images in it, and it uses non-traditional Christmas colors. Unfortunately it is no longer available.

I started this card using Recollections 110 lb white card stock, and made an A2 card base.
I measured about 1/2" from the bottom of the card and drew a very faint line with a pencil, to make sure I stamped the images straight. I then took the gum drop candy from the stamp set, and used Color Box pigment ink, in red, pin, orange, yellow, green and purple, and stamped the gum drop along the line. Because I was using pigment ink, and it takes a while to dry, I was able to add some embossing powder to the images. The embossing powder I used is a clear powder with glitter. This made the gum drops look like they had sugar all over them. The embossing powder I used was Recollections Clear Glitz sparkle.

After finishing the gum drops, I eye-balled the measurement for the swirl candies. I didn't do an exact measurement but it is smaller of the little line stamp that was in the stamp set. I then stamped the two small swirl candies from the stamp set, using Color Box Cranberry ink. I then covered the swirl candies in Recollections clear embossing powder, to give those candies that nice shiny look that those candies have.

I masked the swirl candies with some post it tape, and started stamping the little lines, or "toothpicks", from the stamp set. I used Simon Says Stamp Khaki ink for the toothpicks.

For the sentiment I used a sentiment stamp from an old stamp set I had. I'm not sure what the name of the stamp set is, but it is a Recollections brand. I stamped the Merry and Bright sentiment in Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse red ink. I also stamped the small sentiment from the Candy Cane Christmas, on the inside, to finish the card.

This card was a lot of fun to make, and it turned out really cute.

Merry Christmas and Luminary Circles

Hi everyone, I have another card I'd like to share. This card I made using the Simon Says Stamp 2014 Holiday card kit and the Simon Says Stamp Luminary Circles Craft Dies. Unfortunately the card kit is no longer available, but you can still purchase the different components of the kit separately. I first die cut a piece of Recollections 110 lb white card stock using the Luminary Circles. After die cutting, I stamped the sentiment from the Candy Cane Christmas stamp set, included in the kit. I used the Schoolhouse red ink, that is also included in the kit.I then cut down a piece of the patterned paper that comes in the kit, to fit behind the Luminary Circles. I wanted to keep a red and white color scheme, so I chose the candy striped paper. I made the card base using the Schoolhouse red card stock in the kit, it's an A2 size, top folding card. I then put some EK Success foam squares, to add dimension.

I really liked the way this card turned out.

Merry Christmas Polar Bear

I just love this image from Drawn with Character by Krista Heij-Barber.

I first printed the image out on Recollections 60 lb white card stock. I then die cut the image,
using my Sizzix circle dies, I'm not sure on the circle size, but I think it's about 3 1/2".
I then colored the image in using a variety of alcohol markers. Before coloring, I did choose
my patterned paper, to make sure the colors matched. Copic Markers. Reds: R35, R29, R39;
Greens G20, G21, G24. Black 100 for the nose. To shade the polar bear I used the Prismacolor
Premier maker in PB-79, Brick White. I then outlined around the image using the Spectrum
Noir BT1, just to make the white parts look more white.
For the patterned paper I used The Paper Studio's Woodland Wonderland 6x6 paper pad.
I used the slightly larger Sizzix die, about 4", to make a mate for the image.
The card base is made from Recollections 110 lb white card stock. For the red patterned paper,
I created my own pattern using the Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamp Set Candy Cane
Christmas' holly stamp. I stamped the holly's using Simon Says Stamp School House Red ink,
for a tone on tone look.
The sentiment is stamped using Versa mark ink and then heat embossed with Judikins white
embossing powder. Sentifument comes from the Simon Says Stamp Be Joyful stamp set that
was part of the November Card Kit.
